About NJ PBS
NJ PBS connects viewers across New Jersey with public television: trusted PBS programs, local journalism, arts and culture, learning for children, and coverage of the issues facing the state. As of July 1, 2026, Montclair State University is the new operator of NJ PBS.
NJ PBS is New Jersey's public television service. It carries PBS programs, local stories, arts and culture, education, and statewide public affairs to viewers across the state and the surrounding region.

What NJ PBS is
NJ PBS is New Jersey's PBS member service, part of the national Public Broadcasting Service. It brings national PBS programming together with New Jersey storytelling: documentaries, arts and music, history, children's learning, and public-affairs coverage made for and about the state.
The service is nonprofit and viewer-supported. Programming is free to watch over the air and through PBS-hosted streaming, and member donations help keep it that way.
Montclair's role
NJ PBS is housed at the College of Communication and Media at Montclair State University. The transition became official on July 1, 2026, after the State of New Jersey selected Montclair to program and manage New Jersey's four FCC-licensed public television stations.
This summer, Montclair is hiring staff, setting up systems, and preparing programming that informs, connects, and educates residents across the Garden State.
The member stations
NJ PBS reaches the state over four broadcast stations licensed to the New Jersey Public Broadcasting Authority: WNJS in Camden, WNJN in Montclair, WNJT in Trenton, and WNJB in New Brunswick. Together they cover New Jersey and reach into neighboring markets.
Each station keeps its own FCC online public inspection file. The four files are linked in the footer of every page on this site.
What continues
WNET operated NJ PBS from July 1, 2011, through June 30, 2026. Programming continues during the transition to Montclair, and viewers can keep watching the broadcast channel, PBS programs, and NJ PBS video through PBS-hosted services.
Eligible members retain their PBS Passport benefit while Montclair sets up the next phase of NJ PBS operations. If you have a question about your membership, contact the station team.
